One of the most important questions to ask yourself is when and where they will be wearing this gift. Are you looking for a "staple" piece for daily wear, or a "statement" piece for big events?

The Everyday Staple: If you want them to wear your gift every day, look for comfort and durability.

  • Design: Low-profile rings, stud earrings, or simple pendant necklaces are ideal. These won't get caught on clothing or feel heavy by the end of the day.

  • Materials: This is where you want to invest in higher-quality metals like 10k or 14k gold, as they can withstand the "wear and tear" of daily life without losing their lustre.

  • Observe Their Habits: Before you decide on the type of jewellery, look at what they already wear. Have they worn the same necklace every day for years? If so, do not get them a new necklace; that specific piece likely holds deep sentimental value and they may not want to replace it. Instead, look for rings, bracelets, or earrings that can complement their "forever" piece without competing with it.

The Occasion Statement: If the gift is meant for date nights, weddings, or holiday parties, you can afford to be much bolder.

  • Design: Think larger gemstones, dangling earrings, or intricate cocktail rings. These pieces are meant to be noticed and usually serve as the "finishing touch" to an outfit.

  • Flexibility: Since these aren't worn 24/7, you have more flexibility with delicate designs or unique vintage pieces that are reserved for special moments.
